Britt Dams is currently working as a PhD-student at the Department of Literary Studies at Ghent University where she is preparing her dissertation “Describing the New World in the Early Modern Period: the ‘Case’ of Dutch Brazil (1624-1654)”. The past years she has studied French, Spanish and Portuguese Language and Literature in Ghent (Belgium) and Salvador (UFBA, BA-Brazil), and Literary Studies in Leuven (Belgium). Her fields of interest include early modern culture, literary theory and colonial history and literature. At Ghent University she is also a member of the Centre for History of Science and of TAPAS (Thinking About the Past). She is currently working as a French and Portuguese language instructor at the University Language Center of Ghent University.
