Jonas Roelens

Jonas Roelens is a PhD-student at the History Department at Ghent University. He is currently working on the research project ‘Urban Discourses on Sodomy in the Early Modern Southern Netherlands’, which is funded by the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO). This project aims to chart both the persecution of sodomy between 1400 and 1700 in the major urban centres of the Southern Netherlands, and the cultural perception of same-sex activities in early modern civic society.
