Michael Limberger is assistant professor at the department of History. He studied History and Communication Sciences at the University of Vienna. After a two-year stay at the European University Institute at Florence, he obtained his PhD at Antwerp University. His research is mainly on economic history, urban history and the history of global interactions. His teaching assignments include the fields of economic and financial history, the History of the European expansion, Maritime History, and the history of India. At the moment he is supervising a research project on rural land markets during the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries.
