Wim Verbaal

Wim Verbaal is professor of Latin language and literature at the Department of Literary Studies at Ghent University. His courses cover Latin literature from antiquity to early modern times. He is interested in theoretical problems regarding the literary history of Latin and its poetics after antiquity as a cosmopolitan language and its dialogue with the vernacular or national literatures. While his own research and publications focus on the 12th century, in terms of poetics and the history of ideas, he supervised PhD research on Giordano Bruno and plans future research on Latin literature of the 16th and 18th centuries in Europe.
